Eastenderz FC Complete Signing of Saaqib as Zed Plays Key Role in Deal

Eastenderz FC have completed the signing of midfielder Saaqib, with manager Mo Haji finalising a move that was strongly influenced by fellow Bangladeshi midfielder Zed.

Eastenderz FC have added another major midfield option to the squad with the signing of Saaqib, known on EA FC as OG_Mangotoon, following an impressive opening spell with the club.

The 86-rated midfielder has already made an immediate impact in Eastenderz colours, and what initially began as an opportunity to play alongside the squad has now developed into a full commitment to the club.

A major figure behind the move was Zed.

The two players share a Bangladeshi background and both operate primarily through the attacking midfield areas. Zed was crucial in helping bring Saaqib into the Eastenderz setup, speaking positively about the midfielder and helping establish the connection that eventually led to the signing.

Once Saaqib began appearing for the club and producing performances on the pitch, manager Mo Haji became directly involved in getting the move completed. The manager was impressed by what Saaqib offered technically and saw an opportunity to strengthen a part of the squad where Eastenderz already possess considerable quality.

The result is another attacking midfielder officially joining the Eastenderz ranks.

An immediate impact

Saaqib has needed very little time to make himself noticed.

Across his first six Eastenderz appearances, he has recorded:

• 1 goal
• 8 assists
• 9 total goal contributions
• 8.05 average match rating

That works out at 1.50 goal contributions per game, including 1.33 assists per appearance.

For a player who has only just entered the side, the creative output has been particularly striking.

Saaqib has completed 145 passes at 86.3% accuracy, giving an early indication of the type of midfielder Eastenderz are bringing into the squad. He is comfortable receiving the ball repeatedly, combining with teammates and looking for the final pass rather than simply attempting to dominate possession himself.

His six appearances have produced ratings of 8.3, 7.5, 7.6, 9.9, 7.4 and 7.6, meaning he is yet to record a rating below 7.0 for Eastenderz.

The standout performance came against MDBF FC, when Saaqib produced a 9.9 rating, scored once and registered three assists in a victory.

It was the clearest demonstration yet of what he can offer when operating around the attacking midfield positions.

Even across a very small sample, his numbers have caught attention.

He currently sits on a 50% shot conversion rate, has completed more than 24 passes per appearance, and has produced eight assists from only six matches.

There is obviously a long way to go before those figures can be compared fairly with players who have played considerably more matches this month, but the opening return is difficult to ignore.

The Zed connection

The signing is particularly interesting because of Saaqib's relationship with Zed, another Bangladeshi midfielder already established within Eastenderz.

Zed's role in the deal was significant.

He helped introduce Saaqib to the environment, pushed for his involvement and was a key figure in convincing the club that this was a player worth pursuing.

There was also a footballing reason for Zed's confidence.

Both players are capable of playing as a CAM, but their early August numbers suggest they can offer Eastenderz slightly different qualities.

Zed remains the far more established Eastenderz player this month, having accumulated 38 appearances, compared with only six for Saaqib.

Across those games, Zed has scored 14 goals and provided 23 assists, giving him 37 goal contributions. He has also registered two Man of the Match awards and has been involved in five clean sheets.

His larger body of work remains extremely important.

But Saaqib's first six appearances have provided an intriguing comparison.

While Zed has produced 0.61 assists per game, Saaqib's early figure stands at 1.33.

Zed has 0.97 goal contributions per game, while Saaqib currently sits at 1.50.

Saaqib's early average rating of 8.05 is also ahead of Zed's 7.26 for the comparison period, while his 86.3% passing accuracy is above Zed's 79.9%.

The numbers should not be treated as evidence that one player has overtaken the other. Zed has played more than six times as many matches in the period and has therefore had to maintain his production across a considerably larger sample.

Instead, the comparison highlights why Zed was so keen for Eastenderz to bring Saaqib into the squad.

He appears capable of adding another genuine creative threat.

Serious experience behind the signing

Saaqib is not arriving without experience either.

His wider EA Pro Clubs career contains 144 appearances, 95 goals and 279 assists, alongside 40 Man of the Match awards and an 8.4 career average rating.

Those assist numbers in particular fit with what Eastenderz have already seen.

His game appears naturally geared towards creation.

While some attacking midfielders are effectively second strikers, Saaqib's early numbers suggest a player who is comfortable becoming the link between midfield and attack, keeping combinations moving and creating opportunities for the players around him.

Eight assists in six Eastenderz appearances is an unusually fast start.

And although maintaining that rate over 30, 40 or 50 matches would be extremely difficult, Eastenderz do not need him to sustain 1.33 assists per game indefinitely for this to become a successful signing.

They need another player capable of taking responsibility on the ball.

Early evidence suggests they have found one.

Mo Haji steps in

Once the early performances began to back up Zed's recommendation, Mo Haji became involved in pushing the deal towards completion.

For the Eastenderz manager, the attraction was clear.

The squad already possesses attacking talent, but adding a player comfortable at CAM gives the club more options when changing formations, rotating players or dealing with availability.

It also creates genuine competition.

Nobody is being signed simply to make up the numbers.

Saaqib arrives with an 86 overall rating, considerable Pro Clubs experience and enough early Eastenderz production to immediately challenge for minutes.

That is exactly the type of signing that can raise standards across a squad.

Having Zed and Saaqib available does not necessarily mean choosing one or the other either. Depending on the system, there is potential for both to operate in the same side, particularly if one plays centrally while the other drops deeper or moves into another attacking position.

That flexibility will now be for Mo Haji to work out.

Another Bangladeshi presence at Eastenderz

There is also a personal element to the transfer.

Saaqib joins Zed as another Bangladeshi player within the Eastenderz squad, and that connection played a genuine part in opening the door to the move.

Zed already understood the player and believed his style would translate into the Eastenderz environment.

That recommendation has so far been justified.

Saaqib has entered an established group and immediately shown that he can contribute rather than requiring a lengthy settling-in period.

The challenge now changes.

Six games can create excitement.

The next 20 or 30 determine whether that excitement becomes something more significant.

The next stage

Saaqib's arrival does not come with the expectation that he must immediately replace one of Eastenderz's established players.

Instead, the signing gives the club another high-quality option.

His first six games represent only 12.5% of Eastenderz's August fixtures, so the statistical rankings that require larger appearance or minutes thresholds still list him as ineligible.

That matters.

His 8.05 rating, 1.30 assists per 90, 1.46 goal contributions per 90 and 100% record of performances rated 7.0 or higher are excellent early numbers, but they still need to be sustained.

What Eastenderz have seen so far, however, was enough for the club to act.

There is established career production behind the small Eastenderz sample, and there is already evidence that Saaqib can fit into the way the club plays.

Zed helped open the door.

Saaqib's performances kept it open.

And after Mo Haji became involved, Eastenderz decided they had seen enough.
